The Penny Gimmick

"It has been remarked to me that I have been passing out these small copper cents for some time-likely over a dozen years now, though I am not much for keeping strict count of such things. I recall not exactly when the notion struck me, nor can I say why it has persisted, but a penny has always seemed to me a very honest and affordable souvenir. To witness the spark of wonder in a young child's eye, simply by handing them a coin that bears my own homely likeness...well, I find that a bargain no man should pass up. It is a heavy sorrow to my heart that the humble one-cent piece, which has long borne my likeness, saw its final striking at the United States Mint in 2025. It pains me deeply to see such a stalwart companion of the common man-a symbol of thrift and honesty-retired from the service of this Great Nation. Yet, do not let your spirits falter on my account; I have taken care to stock my coffers with a vast supply of these copper treasures. Rest assured, as long as I draw breath to speak before you, I shall never run out of The Penny Lincoln." 🎩

"Let us at all times remember that all American citizens are brothers of a common country, and should dwell together in the bonds of fraternal feeling—now, let us take a selfie."
